I want to be remembered as someone who is great at sports. I don't want to be remembered as someone who goes out and gets drunk and smokes every night. I also don't want to be remembered as someone who is mean and bullies people. I want to be known as someone who makes good choices and doesn't get into a lot of trouble with the cops. I don't want to be known as the "slacker" who never gets their homework done and always comes late to classes.
I don't want to be the remembered as the person who didn't do good at school so they didn't go to college and wound up living with their parents and working at a gas station. I want to go to college to play basketball and get a good job. I want to earn respect and get a good reputation. I also want to be remembered as a good friend. I hope you want to be remembered the same.

The Evil Easter Bunny
Everyone in Sumner is nervous when it comes to Easter. It used to be a holiday of fun and Easter egg hunting, now it is different. This year has gotten everyone worried about what the Evil Easter Bunny could do this year.
Every year, the Easter Bunny would come around to people's houses and lay yummy chocolate eggs, jelly beans, and place eggs around the house so the children could find them in the morning. Although the Easter bunny comes every year, the Evil Easter Bunny does also. The Evil Easter Bunny showed up three years ago and he never left Sumner since. He would destroy all the eggs that the real Easter Bunny had hidden, and eat or take all the other things that were laid out for the kids. The kids were left with nothing by the morning. The Evil Easter Bunny would go to all the resident's houses in the little town of Sumner and do the same thing to each house, but, he wouldn't do the same thing every year. Other years he left his own presents for the kids, some were freighting, others were stinky and not enjoyable. He would break chairs, screw up sprinkler systems, and a lot of the times, if you had a garden, he would eat every last one of your carrots. He was an evil Easter bunny.
Twelve year old, Cale Recker is determined to catch the Evil Easter Bunny and show him how he and his little sister Addie feel. They have three days before the day of Easter. They must come up with a plan to catch the Evil Easter Bunny.
Addie's read:
Dear Addie,
You are being such a good helper to your brother.
Keep up the good work. I hope that you like the
delicious chocolates and the new jump rope that I
had brought to you. Remember that the Evil Easter
Bunny was a great bunny but something set him off
and he never has been the same since. He was a
great helper just like you.
Your Friend,
The Easter Bunny
Just after Cale and Addie finished reading their notes, their mom and dad came downstairs. They both decided to not show the parents about the letters that they received from the Easter Bunny. They both started running around the house trying to find their Easter eggs that they haven't gotten to look for for three years. Both the mom and the dad smiled at each other.

Two days until the "big night" as Addie would say. They figured out what they are going to do to catch the Evil Easter Bunny. Cale told Addie to promise him that he she wouldn't tell anyone at school. She promised that she wouldn't tell anyone.
********************************************
It is the night before Easter Day and Cale and Addie's mom and dad just finished tucking them in and saying goodnight. When Cale heard his mom and dad go to sleep they quickly and quietly snuck out of bed and waited on the loft that is above the living room, kitchen, and they could see the stairs from the loft, so they would know exactly where the Evil Easter Bunny would come in. They also had rope knots attached to every door and stairway, so they could hear the bunny come in and then they could sneak up on him. Addie also kept one carrot in her pocket just in case he needed it.
"I wonder when he's going to get..." said Addie, but she was interrupted by the creaking of the stairs.
"There he is," whispered Addie so soft that no one could hear it unless you were standing right beside her.
"Let's go," whispered Cale.
They silently climbed down the ladder that led to the kitchen and grabbed the bunny and put duct tape and a sack over his head. He was furious! Cale and Addie led the terrifying Easter Bunny onto the balcony outside. They laid him in a chair and asked him questions. The Evil Easter Bunny didn't answer any questions. Addie took out the carrot and threw it at him and stormed off because she had to go to the bathroom. Cale, then tied him to the chair so tightly that you couldn't fit a finger between the knots. Cale decided to quickly go and grab the carrots from the refrigerator. Cale quickly ran back to the balcony, but when he opened the door to the balcony, he was gone! He looked below, but he was no where to be found. When Addie came out of the bathroom, she went to her brother Cale and asked where the Evil Easter Bunny had gone. Cale told his little sister that the bunny had vanished and he doesn't know where the bunny had gone. They were sad that they didn't to get to carry out their plan. They went up the stairs back to their bedrooms, where they fell asleep.
**********************************
The next day when Cale and Addie woke up, they ran down the stairs to see if the real Easter Bunny came. In their baskets were enormous chocolate eggs, and a note in each one of their baskets. Cale's read:
Dear Cale,
Dear Cale,
I greatly appreciate your hard work in stopping the
Evil Easter Bunny. I have tried for more than three
Evil Easter Bunny. I have tried for more than three
years for him to come back around and help me with
Easter, but it was no use. He had turned dark. I again
thank you.
Your Friend,
The Easter Bunny
P.S. Where did the Evil Easter Bunny go?

Afterword:
While watching the news, Cale and Addie see something about an Evil Easter Bunny found. The reporter says, "Late last night the hospital received a very peculiar patient. It was the Evil Easter Bunny! They say he is recovering from a severe case of carrot poisoning. He is in a carrot coma. The last words he said before he went into the coma were "Curse you Addie! I knew the carrot you gave me was rotten!" We all hope that this "rotten" coma will bring him back to the old Easter Bunny's helper. That's all for now, we will keep you tuned in with the latest. Goodbye!"
Cale and Addie both turned and looked at each other in awe.
"I didn't know that he would eat the carrot," said Addie.
"It's okay Addster, he'll be alright," replied Cale.
Just then the front door burst open and their mom and dad came in and said, "Who's ready to eat!"

CONCUSSIONS!
Should athletes be allowed to play contact sports after suffering a concussion? I think that after they get a second concussion they should not be able to play because several professional football players have committed suicide. Autopsy results revealed brain damage. I also think that they should absolutely make sure that the concussion is completely gone before they return on the field. Research says that 31% of athletes with concussions are rushed back onto the field after injury. I also think that concussions are very harmful and a study has shown that football players who have suffered three or more concussions have a tripled risk of depression.
" I'm fortunate to have found out early, in 1990, just two years after I retired, that I have neurological damage. I try to manage it. I know what can trigger headaches and try to avoid it. I have short term memory problems, so I make a special effort to remember people and names. I have to work harder, but it's important."

Summer and Winter
Compare and Contrast: Winter and Summer
Winter has cold temperatures. There is snow, ice, and sleet in most winters. The activities/sports that you can do in the winter is ice skate, snow ski, snowmobile, basketball, sledding, make snowmen and have snowball fights. There is also school in the winter.
Summer has warmer temperatures. There is also a lot of thunderstorms and humidity. In the summer there is no school. (unless you are in summer school) In the summer there is softball, swimming going to the beach, riding your bike, and anything that has anything to do with outside.
Something that they both have in common is that they both have sports played in the season. They both also have storms in them, winter has snowstorms and summer has thunderstorms. They are also both seasons and both have sunny days. Another similar thing about the seasons is that you can four wheel in them, meaning you can four wheel on the grass in the summer and on the snow in the wintertime.
Persuasion:
Summer is my favorite season and I am here to persuade you into liking it the most too! In the summertime it is almost always has warm days. For kids there is no school so that is always fun too, because you can do fun activities and sports without worrying that it is a school night. In the summer there are sports that include softball, swimming outdoors, and track for a little bit. The activities that you can do in the summer are swimming for fun, going to the beach, tubing and boating, water ski, riding your bike, and do anything that has anything to do with going outside.

If I Were in Charge of the House
If I were in charge of the house, I would make sure that I could do whatever I wanted. I could play on my Ipod and not get yelled at and watch TV for as long as I want. I would definitely remodel the house. I would get expansions done so our house is bigger. Our house would be double story with a basement.
In my room I would put the most comfortable king-sized bed and get it all to myself. I would sleep in for as long as I want and also buy myself a flat screen TV mounted on the wall. In my room would be a high class stereo system. I would have my own bathroom and walk-in closet. My room would be tripled the size that it is now.
I would make my sisters and parents become my servants and get me whatever I want. I would have my mom go to the store and buy me all the food that I love! When I have friends over my parents and sister will make dinner and do all chores.
When I have friends over every weekend we will eat anything we want and not have to worry about my parents and sisters getting mad because we are to loud. My sisters and parents would sleep in a insulated room where you could hear nothing and we couldn't hear them.
Another thing that I would change is that we would have two dogs, one small one for sure. The small one would always be in my room or wherever I go. It would have its own comfortable bed and its own tray of water and food dish.
If only I were in charge of the house.

Christmas Break!
Over Christmas break I went to four Christmases. I got Under Armour headbands and Aeropostale, Amazon, Dick's Sporting Goods and Claire's gift cards. I also got a new phone and a movie. After they were all done, I had a basketball tournament in North Cedar and volleyball and basketball practices.
Maci and I then went sledding on a tube and we were pulled by a four wheeler. I flew off I couple times around the curves. The worst thing happened when the four wheeler was out of gas in the far end of the field. We had to walk to the house and ask Maci's mom if she go and get a gallon of gas at the gas station. After she came back we then had to walk back carrying the gas and then drive to the house to put the gallon bucket in the garage.
All I did for New Year's was stay up until 12:00. That was my Christmas break.

The Abduction
"Mom, I don't know what to wear for school tomorrow," I said to her.
"Just wear your new shirt with the dark shorts I got you," she answered.
"Okay," I said "thank you!"
It was the first day of school, and I am in the fifth grade. I have long brunette hair and hazel eyes. I am almost the shortest person in my class, unlike my brother.
My brother's name is Jason and he is the tallest in the class. He has dark hair and chocolate brown eyes. He began to lift weights in seventh grade. He has been weightlifting for three years.
I was walking to school with my brother when he stopped to tie his shoes, so I kept walking. He said to stop and wait for him, but I refused and just kept walking. When I turned the corner to the next block, there stood a large black carpenter van. It looked sort of suspicious, but before I could look at it any longer, these two guys jumped out and attacked me. One pulled me up on his shoulder, Shrek style, and the other one put a sock in my mouth. I let out a scream as I saw my brother one last time before everything around me went black.
**********************************************
When I woke up I was still in the van. My head felt like a hammer has been beaten into it. I feel where it hurts most and I feel dry blood. My hands are tied with a rope. I look out the window and we are in the woods. I think this is the woods that me and my brother used to sled in. We used to go all the way across town just to sled down the steepest hill in all of Karsen. We used to laugh and sled and if we got cold we would walk two blocks to get a hot cup of hot chocolate. My eyes started to water just thinking about him. "I wish that I would of listened to Jason," I said quietly, "then he could have done something."
The kidnappers came into the van and just stared at me. One of the guys is short and stocky, with patches of hair on his chin. The other one is tall and built. He reminds me of my brother. They ask me what I was doing by the van, and I answer that I was just looking at it. They both climbed in the front and drove away.
They took me to what looked like an abandoned house. I have never seen the house before. When we enter there are white sheets over all of the furniture. They took me downstairs. It smells dusty and there is only one window in the little cellar. It is cold and damp and with only one bed that is extremely uncomfortable. The sun shines through the window turning the whole room orange. The mirror is cracked and has little orange and brown spots on it showing signs of ageing. The kidnappers throw me on the bed and handcuff me to the bed stand. I struggle to get out, but I can't. Later the kidnappers come down and throw me a can of dog food. I refuse to eat it. Then short guy comes at me, yelling to eat it. All I can do is spit right in his eye. He yells so the tall kidnapper took the short one and throws him out of the room, and he stomps out too.
It is cold tonight and I don't have any blankets. I am starting to feel extremely homesick. I want to go home and see my family. This thought determined that I am going to make it out of here, so I began planning my escape. I was going to do it whether they like it or not.
After six days I have mastered their schedule. Every day the tall, built guy goes out and lifts weights, and the short, stocky guy goes out and runs one mile. If I can just figure out a way to escape from the handcuffs, then I can figure out where I am and maybe escape. I just remembered that I have a bobby pin in my hair. I try the rest of the day to get it out and by the time the kidnappers come in to feed me the dog kibble, I have unlocked the handcuffs. They came in and I pretended the handcuffs were still on. They are stupid enough to just throw the food at me.
It is the next day I woke up very early and to wait to hear them get up and get ready. I wait for the door to slam and I didn't hear any voices. Next I take the bobby pin and twist it and turn it in the keyhole. I get so excited when I hear the "click" of the handcuffs as they escape my hands. I almost jump and scream I open the door, I feel my victory turn to panic as the door squeaks open upstairs. I quickly find the window and stand on the dusty dresser and throw the handcuffs through the window. I know that it would make a very loud noise, so I quickly cram myself through the window. When I get out, I hear the big, tall man's voice as he pounds down the staircase. As I run away, I can feel something wet running down my stomach. It is blood. I sprint as fast as I can to be able to know what town I am in. When running, I can hear them yelling at each other and then they start chasing me. I run and run until I know for sure that they aren't following me. I go to a road and follow it to the end of what look like a town. I go and try to see if it has a sign that says the town's name. The sign read "Akersville." I know right away that Akersville is south of Karsen, and that I have to follow the road I am on, would arrive in Karsen. Then I would know exactly where to find my house and return to my family.
All of the sudden I recognize a familiar voice, a voice that I would rather not ever hear again. It is the sound of the kidnappers in their van. I think that they found me because they were speeding up and yelling threats at me to come back to them. I worry if they know where I live, they would hurt my family. I didn't think about that and I ran fast, away, but not too far away that I would lose sight of the road. I run and hide in a bush to catch my breath. I hear the voice of the short and stocky kidnapper and I hold my breath with fear. He sees me through the rosebush and snatches me in his arms. While he was holds on to me, I bite him, so hard that he bleeds. When he goes to check out the bite, I kick his shin. As he is holding his leg, I take his arm and pull him into a white, tin shed. I smash his face into the shed and quickly run away. He yells but I can't make out what he says. I start walking the way that the road is going. I walk day and night for one day.
Finally I got to Karsen. My house and the police station is across the whole city. It's a good thing that Karsen is not that big because then I would probably be lost by now. I figure if I start walking toward my house then I will be there in two hours or so. I just hope that the kidnappers don't find me and especially that muscular one. He would be harder to take down. I start to walk towards the park. I finally get to my house. I know that it must be about five in the evening because the sun is getting orange by the minute. My eyes are burning even though it is warm out. I force myself not to start to cry about all those days that I was wishing that I was home and now I am finally home. I run as fast as I ever did run and burst through the door. My mother is fixing dinner and she drops the plate of spaghetti and it crashes to the floor. My brother is sitting on the couch watching the television and quickly runs out and sees me. He starts to cry and I run into his arms and giving him a huge hug. He almost breaks my back from hugging me so hard. It is the best hug I ever had. My dog, Sherlock, runs and yips. I am so happy to see everybody. My dad calls the police saying that I am found. I am walking to the dinner table to eat, my brother sits up and says, "I will try to tighten my shoes next time we have to walk to school."
I smile and say,"And I will try to listen to you more often!"
My mom and my dad both say, "Yeah right like that is going to happen!"
I smile and our whole family starts to burst out laughing. "It's great to be home," I finally exclaim.
"Just wear your new shirt with the dark shorts I got you," she answered.
