Friendship in very important. It helps you with being nice to people and help you have a better time than being by yourself! A good friend should be trustworthy, respectful, responsible, caring, fair, and fun. Each friend should have their own little way of being fun and having their own style. You should never not be friends with someone just because they are different or they are weird. It is their personality that you should like about them! You have to be nice to your friend, even if you are in a fight. It's okay to have many friends, the more the merrier, so go out there and find yourself some friends!!

Iowa!

Iowa is the best state in the United States of America. It is the Hawkeye State, but right now the Iowa Hawkeyes are not that good right now. I am going to the football game on Saturday and hopefully it is not that cold. They are taking on Central Michigan. I hope that they will win. Iowa is also a spectacular state because we are part of the "bread basket of America." We harvest a lot of corn and beans for food. This year was not so great because there was a big drought. Another part of Iowa is the Mississippi River, where I go boating most of the time. Also, Iowa has an Iowa State Fair in Des Monies, Iowa. I participate in 4-H and if you get a purple ribbon means that you are going to show that project at the fair. I like Iowa because it has the perfect weather, mild to hot summers, and cold winters. Iowa has many kinds of animals, such as foxes, wolves, squirrels, chipmunks, and different kinds of birds. Iowa is a great state and I hope now you think so too!

The Old Shed

When my grandpa died, we had to clean out the house and all of the old buildings. My grandpa lived on a farm. My cousin, Alli, and I had to clean out Papa's old, white, rickety, shed. We are at the back of the shed, almost done cleaning out it, when we come across 7 old, and rusted milk barrels. We look inside each one of them and there are metal scraps, wheels, and old Pepsi cans. We heard a small meow and Alli looked in the one that we thought it was coming from and we found 2 small, black, and grey kittens. Alli and I wanted to hold them so bad but they looked so small and innocent that if we touched them the mother probably wouldn't come back so we decide not to touch them. Instead, we moved the milk barrel into the corner and reminded ourselves not to look in it or remove it. After we finished cleaning out the shed, we went inside the house and told everybody our discovery. Everytime we come to Papa's house, we make sure that the kittens are still there, and everytime they are.

What Sweet Potatoes Really Are!?!

Sweet potatoes are gross looking and gross tasting. The color is brown on the outside and orange on the inside. The outside of the sweet potato is wrinkly, while the inside is soft and kind of mushy. They are very big. Sweet potatoes are giant, wrinkly, fat, ape thumbs! I know that for a fact because a long time ago obnoxious apes were planning to take over the human race. They had lots of meeting of how they were going to wipe out the humans all in one fight! There was a huge world-wide war with every continent involved. It was the humans against the apes. The war was a long, hard, battle but with hard fighting the humans won and the remaining apes promised never in their existence to fight with the humans. As a victory to the humans they cut off the remaining dead ape thumbs for a souvenir and ate them, some of them are still around today! It is orange on the inside because that is the apes dried blood. There are no bones in ape thumbs, so would have never known that it was an ape thumb. Be grateful that I was here to inform you! Luckily we have no apes to control, and we can live an almost normal life. Just never try to eat sweet potatoes because now you know what they really are!

Homecoming!

This week is homecoming! In the high school you have to dress up in different costumes according to the day. Monday was "tropic like it's hot" where you would wear tropical clothes or Hawaiian clothes. Tuesday was "neon day" where you would wear as much neon as you can. Wednesday was "make your own trend" so you would wear something that you would want to go in style or you want everyone else to wear. Thursday was "Career Day" where the freshman had to wear something that was businesslike, Sophomores had to wear something that was like a rockstar, Juniors had to wear something that was a dirty job or something that a person who works as something dirty, and lastly Seniors had to wear yoga clothes or if you were a yoga teacher. The last day is Friday which is the same every year, "black and gold day" where you wear as much black and gold as you can!
Also on Friday is the parade and pep-rally. Iron man volleyball and powderpuff football is on Thursday. Iron man volleyball is when boys play against boys while they are playing volleyball. Powderpuff football is when the girls play against girls when they are playing flag football. On Friday is the parade, where they have floats and throw candy at us. Then after the parade is the pep-rally, where people get excited for the homecoming game at night. This year will be my first time at a pep-rally. Hopefully its fun! I can't wait until i'm in high school, you get to do so many fun things, especially at homecoming!

The Unbreakable Ant Mound

Little Red is a little black ant that lives in an ant mound all by himself. The worst part about his mound is that it is located in a children's playground. Little Red doesn't know why his mound always gets covered up and stepped on. Little Red is rebuilding his mound and trying to think of ways that will help from kids stepping on it. He began to build his mound how he thought would help from kids stepping on it. He dug deeper into the mound and covered it with a roof. After he was done, Little Red congratulated himself on such an achievement. A few minutes later when a mysterious bell rang a kid stepped on it and the roof caved in and cover the mound. His mound is ruined! Little Red was so mad he had forgotten the rules, never talk to humans, but he did because he yelled, "Hey you, I can't believe you just did that, do you know how hard it took to make this mound!"
The kid which name is Joe said startled, " I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to step on it, I couldn't even see it!"
"Well if you can't see it, then I bet the other kids can't see it!" said Little Red, "Could you at least help me think of a way I could prevent the kids from stepping on the mound?" said Little Red.
     "Sure," said Joe.
Joe found some twigs and a piece of string and wrapped the string around the twigs in a square.
"There that should do it," said Joe feeling like he accomplished something.
"Thank you," said Little Red and Joe walked off into the building when the mysterious bell rang again. The next day nobody stepped on the mound.
